A NEED FOR FAITH

Have you ever wondered whether they would find Noah's Ark one day? Did you wonder if Noah was real or just the figment of someone's imagination? Jesus believed that Noah was a real person; he speaks of him in the Gospels.

Joseph, the earthly guardian of Jesus, was a descendant of Noah (as we read from the family tree given in Luke chapter 3). From this we can conclude then that Noah must have been a real living person. As to the whereabouts of the ark, does it really matter? I mean really matter? It would help some, maybe, to become believers, but it would not stop others who look for ways to try and make the Bible contradict itself.

The point, then, is one of faith or trust. The Bible says we must have faith - we must believe that the words written in it are words of truth. Then, and only then, can we begin to understand it. The promises that begin in Genesis speak of a future kingdom where there will be no pain, no crying and no more sadness; a Kingdom here on this earth with living people; not in heaven after death. God's Kingdom - here on earth - with Jesus as King!

Jesus taught his followers to have faith. He had such faith in the promises made by God that he allowed himself to be killed because he believed that he would be raised again by his Father, to be the first of many who believe in him. He had to die. All we have to do is to believe what is written in the Bible, the Word of God, and to act on it, not just at Easter, or Christmas, but all year, every day, every hour.

We believe, from all the promises recorded in the Bible, that Jesus will return soon. Do you need to see something to believe it? Is your faith in things that perish or is it in the same belief that Jesus had?
